About Bara

A tax and financial services firm located in Arab, Alabama. The firm has approximately 3,000 clients including Individuals, Corporations, Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, Trusts and Estates. With clientele in all fifty states and nineteen foreign countries, Bara does business worldwide.

Al LaGrone founded our firm in 1957, initially calling it Bara Business Service. The idea for the name came to him while in a local business in Arab. Looking out the glass door of the business the word Arab appeared backwards. Mr. LaGrone worked full time for the federal government and moonlighted (part-time) preparing tax returns in leased office space in downtown Arab. The business grew, and in 1962 he built our office building at our present day location. In 1970 when he retired from the government and devoted full-time to the tax preparation business Al obtained his Enrolled Agent License, he added an addition to our building (doubling the size to approx. 10,000 sq. ft.). Cook worked for LaGrone from 1987 to December 1994, when Al sold the practice to Greg and retired (unfortunately our Founder passed away 2 short years later in 1996 at age 69).
